Encouraged by the Flemish artist Jef Geys (°1934, see later) Jos Jamar starts his gallery in 1989. Emphasis is on the work of Jef Geys, Marcel Broodthaers and Panamarenko. In the opening year of the gallery he publishes the catalogue raisonné of Marcel Broodthaers prints and books. In 1991 he participates at the Biennale of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Meanwhile he starts collecting the multiples of that other famous Belgian artist: Panamarenko. Today Jos Jamar is the only owner of the complete series of Panamarenko’s multiples, containing 145 prints, objects, and editions. Two times a year Panamarenko’s works are exhibited in the gallery, in alternation with works by Jef Geys, Marcel Broodthaers, Léon Spilliaert and Laurent Cruyt.
